Object Description

A postcard featuring Blue Island's original City Hall to the left, and the Municipal Building addition to the right at the northeast corner of Greenwood Avenue and Vermont Street. The original building, which housed Blue Island's fire and police departments and the public library amongst other uses over the years, was built in 1891 and designed by Chicago architect Edmund R. Krause and built by local carpenter Christian Krueger, Jr. Krueger is better known for the undertaking business he started in Blue Island that eventually turned into the family business built across the street from City Hall, Krueger Funeral Home. 

City Hall's addition was built in 1925 and designed by the architectural firm of Doerr, Lindquist and Doerr.
